FIU Detectives Arrest Joerick Johnson with a Firearm for the 2nd Time in Two Months, Ghost Gun also Seized

Springfield, Mass. — On Wednesday April 20th at approximately 5:00 p.m. Detectives in the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Lt. Brian Beliveau assisted by Holyoke Police Detectives seized two loaded firearms and arrested two suspects on the 500 block of South Summer Street in Holyoke.

Earlier in the day Springfield Police FIU Detectives received information that Aidan Laboy was in possession of a Ghost Gun and was in Holyoke.  Springfield Detectives contacted Holyoke Detectives to assist.  Springfield Detectives then located the car Laboy was driving in Holyoke.  When assisting Detectives arrived they conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on the 500 block of South Summer Street.    There were four people inside the car.

Detectives detained Laboy and recovered a Ghost Gun loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition.  Detectives also detained an individual in the back seat, identified as Joerick Johnson.  Detectives observed and recovered a loaded firearm that was under Johnson’s leg.

Occupants in the front and rear passenger seats were detained and later released.

On February 19th, 2022 members FIU Detectives and C3 Officers arrested Johnson and a second suspect Joshua Pena with a high capacity firearm on the 100 block of Parker Street.   Johnson was released on $10,000 bail and no other conditions.  That case remains open.

  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Firearm Violation with 1 prior Violent/Drug Crime

19 year old Aidan Laboy of Holyoke is charged with:

  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
