Ghost Gun Recovered, Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

Springfield, Mass. — On Saturday March 19th at approximately 3:50 p.m. Springfield Police Officers recovered a large capacity Ghost Gun and arrested 42 year old Samuel Thomas after an armed robbery.

Around 2:40 p.m. officers responded to a convenience store on the 100 block of Chestnut Street for a report of shots fired.  A store employee stated he was robbed at gunpoint by a suspect who got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and fired one shot as he was fleeing the store.  No one was struck.

Officers located Thomas in the area Spring and Winter Street and placed him under arrest.  Detectives then received a waiver to search an apartment Thomas went into on Pearl Street after the robbery.  Detectives located the Ghost Gun inside the apartment.

42 year old Samuel Thomas of Springfield is charged with:

  • Armed & Masked Robbery
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
  • Improper Storage of a Firearm
  • Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
  • Malicious Destruction of Property Less than $1200
