K9 Yogi Leads Officers to Loaded Firearm, Suspect Arrested after Gun Call
Springfield, Mass. — On Tuesday February 8th at approximately 3:00 p.m. Springfield Police Officers responded to the 400 block of Belmont Avenue for a gun call. The suspect, later identified as Josiah Livingston, allegedly pointed a gun at a victim. Due to information the officers received they remained in the area. Around 7:00 p.m. Livingston returned and was placed under arrest.
Officers requested a K9 team to search for the firearm. K9 Officer Scott Stelzer and K9 Yogi arrived and located a fanny pack on the 400 block of Belmont Avenue. Detectives in the Firearms Investigation Unit assisted and discovered a firearm matching the description of the one used in the prior incident and personal items belonging to Livingston and crack-cocaine inside the bag.
The firearm was previously reported stolen out of New York.
20 year old Josiah Livingston of Hartford, Connecticut was charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Possession of Ammunition without a FID Card
- Possession of a Class B Drug
- Receiving Stolen Property Less than $1200
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (2 Counts)
