More than 100 Citations Issued during High Visibility Traffic Enforcement Thursday on Sumner Avenue

Springfield, Mass. — On Thursday December 9th members of the Springfield Police Department’s Traffic Unit, Ordinance Unit and C3 Units along with the Massachusetts State Police conducted high visibility traffic enforcement on the Sumner Avenue corridor.  This combined effort resulted in 124 citations, including eight criminal complaints being issued.  The majority of the tickets were for speeding and violating the hands-free cell phone law.

This was the fourth high visibility enforcement effort in the past month.  More than 350 citations have been issued.  The previous high visibility enforcement efforts took place on State Street, Parker Street and Boston Road.
