Nine Men Arrested During Undercover “Anti-John” Operation

Springfield, Mass. — Members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit under the direction of Captain Brian Keenan, Springfield Police Officers, Massachusetts State Police High Risk Victim and Gang Unit and members of the Massachusetts State Police Hampden County Detective Unit conducted an undercover prostitution operation on Thursday afternoon in the South End neighborhood of Springfield.

In response to neighborhood complaints and quality of life issues the Springfield Police and Massachusetts State Police conducted an “Anti-John” detail to deter the solicitation of prostitution in the city.  In less than four hours, Detectives, Officers and Troopers arrested nine men soliciting prostitution from undercover officers.

57-year-old Luis Santiago of Springfield is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct
  • Indecent Exposure

41-year-old Angel Amaro of Springfield is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

31-year-old Willie Bynum Brown of South Hadley is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

37-year-old Edulvino Ortiz of Springfield is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

59-year-old Daniel Maskell of West Springfield is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

32-year-old Ignatius Thompson of Manchester, CT is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

27-year-old Ismael Ramos of Springfield is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

22-year-old Jose Soto, homeless, is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

A juvenile boy was also arrested and charged during this operation.  Due to his age no further information will be released.
