Officers Recover Large Capacity Firearm after responding to a Gun Call
Springfield, Mass. — On Sunday January 30th at approximately 11:25 p.m. officers responded to the 100 block of Westford Circle for a gun call. When officers arrived they received information that a suspect, later identified as Corey Charvis, punched a female victim in the face and then pointed a firearm in the direction of a group of people. Prior to the officers’ arrival Charvis got into the passenger seat of a car being driven by Shamika Turner and fled the scene.
A short time later officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Willard Avenue. A loaded large capacity firearm was located inside the car and both Charvis and Turner were placed under arrest.
32 year old Corey Charvis of Springfield is charged with:
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number during the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm without a FID Card
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device
- Improper Storage of a Firearm
- Assault & Battery
35 year old Shamika Turner of Indian Orchard is charged with:
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number during the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm without a FID Card
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device
- Improper Storage of a Firearm
