Police Superintendent Clapprood, U.S. Attorney Rollins Discuss Combating Gun Violence Thursday

Springfield, Mass. — Springfield Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood, her command staff and Mayor Domenic J. Sarno met with U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts Rachael Rollins, as well as our local, state and federal partners in a discussion about combating summer gun violence at Springfield Police Headquarters Thursday.

This year the Springfield Police Department recovered 183 Illegally possessed firearms, including 80 large capacity firearms and 14 Ghost Guns.  The Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit has seized 101 illegally possessed firearms which is playing a role in reducing gun violence.

U.S. Attorney Rollins told Superintendent Clapprood to “keep up the good work.”
