Public Comment Period Begins for Internal Investigations Policy
Springfield, Mass. — Springfield Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood on behalf of the Springfield Police Department announced that on February 7, 2023, the City of Springfield, in compliance with the DOJ Settlement Agreement, will post the proposed Internal Investigations Unit related policy on the Springfield Police Department’s website for public comment.
Following the release of this policy, the public will have the ability to view and provide comment on the policy for a two-week period that ends on February 20, 2023 at www.SpringfieldMAPolice.com. At the conclusion of the public comment period, the City of Springfield, in collaboration with the DOJ and Compliance Evaluator, will consider the comments and make any appropriate revisions.
During the public comment period, City of Springfield and/or police department representatives will be present at regularly scheduled C3 meetings to explain the major changes in the policy and to answer any questions the public might have.
