Shooting Suspect Arrested after Allegedly Firing into a Home with a Child Inside

Springfield, Mass. — On Wednesday May 4th at approximately 11:25 a.m. Springfield Police Officers arrested 19 year old Eric Brown at the intersection of Moss Rd. and North Branch Parkway for two outstanding warrants including firearms charges for a shooting.

On January 29th around 3:00 p.m. officers responded to the 100 block of Beacon Circle for a report of shots fired.  Officers observed property damage to a home where bullet holes were found in the siding of the building, a couch and bullet fragments in a dining room.  A child was inside the home that was struck when the shots were fired.

The Springfield Police Detective Bureau under the direction of Captain Trent Duda began investigating and identified Brown as the shooting suspect.  In February Detectives requested and were granted a warrant for his arrest.  Officers located Brown on Wednesday and placed him under arrest for the following charges.

19 year old Eric Brown of Springfield is charged with:

  • Arrest Warrant
    – Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
    – Armed Assault to Murder (Firearm)
    – Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
    – Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
    – Malicious Destruction of Property Less than $1200
    – Carrying a Firearm without a License
    – Assault & Battery
  • Arrest Warrant
    – Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident
    – Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
    – Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
