SPD Detective Bureau Investigation Leads to Arrest of Bank Robbery Suspect

Springfield, Mass. — On Thursday September 15th at approximately 12:25 p.m. members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation unit the direction of Captain Brian Keenan, Massachusetts State Police VFAS and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department arrested 42-year-old Jose Beauchamp inside an apartment on the 0-100 block of Portland Street in connection to a bank robbery in the city on Saturday.

At approximately 10:20 a.m. on Saturday September 10th Springfield Police Officers responded to a report of a robbery that had occurred at the M&T Bank on the 1000 block of St. James Ave.  The suspect handed the teller a note and implied that he had a weapon.  The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Springfield Police Detectives under the direction of Captain Trent Duda began investigating.  Through the investigation Detectives identified as Beauchamp as the suspect.  On Wednesday September 14th Detectives applied for and were granted a warrant for his arrest.

42-year-old Jose Beauchamp of Springfield is charged with:

  • Arrest Warrant
    – Armed and Masked Robbery

Beauchamp’s booking photo will be available after his arraignment in Springfield District Court.
