SPD Detective Bureau Investigation Leads to Arrest of Car-Break Suspect

Springfield, Mass. — On Friday August 5th at approximately 8:25 p.m. Springfield Police Officers arrested 28-year-old Jerome Burgess on the 0-100 block of Catharine Street on multiple arrest warrants based on separate investigations by Springfield Police Detectives assigned to the Auto-Theft Unit.

On May 24th Springfield Police Officers responded to Thompson Street for a suspect breaking into a cars and stealing several items.  Springfield Police Detectives identified Burgess as a suspect.  Detectives applied for and were granted a warrant for his arrest.

On that same day later in the evening Burgess allegedly returned to Thompson Street and broke into another vehicle.  Detectives identified Burgess as the suspect in that incident as well, applied for and were granted a warrant for his arrest on those charges.

While taking Burgess into custody Officers also recovered a bag of cocaine on him.

    – Threat to a Commit a Crime
    – Larceny under $1200
  • Arrest Warrant

    – Breaking and Entering into a Vehicle – Daytime for a Felony
    – Larceny under $1200
  • Default Warrant
    – Unarmed Burglary
    – Larceny under $1200
  • Possession of a Class B Drug
