SPD Firearms Investigation Unit Recovered Stolen High Capacity Firearm 

Springfield, Mass. — On Saturday November 20th at approximately 11:15 p.m. members of the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit under the direction of Lt. Brian Beliveau seized a loaded high capacity firearm and arrested Jomar Rodriguez.

Detectives were conducting an illegal firearms investigation and conducting surveillance of a suspect, Jomar Rodriguez, based on information he was in possession of a firearm.  Detectives conducted a traffic stop on Grover Street and detained Rodriguez and his passenger pending the investigation.

Detectives recovered a firearm under the driver’s seat and arrested Rodriguez.   The passenger was released.  The high capacity firearm was loaded and reported stolen out of Georgia.  Three bags of cocaine were also recovered from Rodriguez.

23 year old Jomar Rodriguez of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
  • Receiving Stolen Property Less than $1200
  • Possession of a Class B Drug
