SPD Firearms Investigation Unit Seized Rifle Saturday morning
Springfield, Mass. — Members of the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit were conducting an illegal firearms investigation on Friday November 12th. Shortly before midnight Detectives observed two suspects walking on the 3100 block of Main Street.
Detectives observed one suspect, Angel Suastegui, pinning an object towards his waist consistent with an individual in possession of a firearm. Detectives detained Suastegui and a 17 year old juvenile male. Detectives recovered a rifle from Suastegui’s waistband. The firearm was loaded and both suspects were arrested Saturday morning at approximately 12:25 a.m.
Suastegui has open firearms charges in Greenfield District Court and New York State. Due to the juvenile’s age his charges will not be released.
18 year old Angel Suastegui of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
