Thursday August 19th at approximately 10:15 a.m. members of the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit under the direction of Captain Brian Keenan, Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit, MSP VFAS and U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested at 16 year old male and seized two illegally possessed firearms, heroin and cocaine.

Detectives have been conducting an illegal firearms investigation with this juvenile as the target. On Thursday Detectives received information that the juvenile was in possession of firearms. Detectives located the suspect on Fernwold Street where he was in possession of heroin and cocaine.

Detectives then searched his home on Montclair Street where they located two firearms, additional heroin and cocaine. In total approximately 200 bags of heroin and 26 bags of cocaine were recovered. One of the firearms was a large capacity firearm.

The 16 year old faces numerous firearms and drug charges. Due to his age no further information can be released at this time.
