SPD Firearms Investigation Unit Seized Two Guns Friday, Repeat Offender, Juvenile Arrested

Springfield, Mass. — On Friday July 15th at approximately 9:15 p.m. members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Lt. Christopher Collins and members of the Springfield Police Emergency Services Unit (ESU) under the direction of Lt. Joseph Dunn seized two firearms and arrested 20-year-old Jaylen Graham and a 17-year-old juvenile.

For the past several weeks FIU Detectives have been investigating Jaylen Graham for the illegal possession of a firearm.  Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for his home on Davenport Street.  As Detectives prepared to execute the search warrant Graham and two other individuals left the home on foot.  Assisting Detectives detained the three individuals on the 700 block of Boston Road and recovered a loaded large capacity firearm with a laser attachment in Graham’s shorts pocket.  Detectives also recovered a Ghost Gun inside the backpack of a juvenile.

Detectives and members of the ESU then executed the search warrant.  Inside the home Detectives recovered approximately 250 bags of heroin.

Graham and a 17-year-old juvenile were placed under arrest.  The third individual was released.

This is Graham’s third firearms-related arrest.  He was convicted of carrying a firearm without a license in December 2021.

The Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit has seized 99 illegally possessed firearms thus far in 2022.

20-year-old Jaylen Graham of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm without a License – 2nd Offense
  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Firearm Violation with 3 Prior Violent/Drug Crimes
  • Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number during the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
