SPD Firearms Investigation Unit Seizes Loaded Large Capacity Firearm Tuesday Night
Springfield, Mass. — On Tuesday June 7th at approximately 9:40 p.m. members of the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Sgt. Christopher Hitas seized a loaded large capacity firearm and arrested 18-year-old Joebrian Davis at the intersection of Fernbank Road and Castlegate Drive.
FIU Detectives received information that Davis was in possession of a firearm. Detectives while applying for a search warrant for his apartment observed Davis leave on a bicycle. Detectives stopped Davis and recovered a loaded large capacity firearm capable of holding 14 rounds of ammunition from his shorts pocket. Detectives placed Davis under arrest.
18-year-old Joebrian Davis of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
