SPD FIU Detectives Recover Ghost Gun, Arrest Suspect out on Bail on Firearms Charges

Springfield, Mass. — At approximately 8:45 p.m. on Friday October 7th members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit and Squad C Officers executed a search warrant at a home on Fernald Street after an illegal firearms investigation conducted by FIU Detectives.

During the search Detectives seized a Loaded Large Capacity “Ghost Gun” from 18-year-old Timothy Grant and secured 20-year-old Dwayne Johnson who was the target of the investigation.  Inside Johnson’s home Detectives recovered eight additional large capacity magazines and more than 250 rounds of various rounds of ammunition.  Johnson and Grant were placed under arrest.

In December 2020, FIU Detectives arrested Johnson on firearms charges and he was currently out on bail in that case at the time of this arrest.

20-year-old Dwayne Johnson of Springfield is charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm without a License
  • Possession of Ammunition
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device (Six Counts)

18-year-old Timothy Grant of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm without a License
  • Possession of Ammunition
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device (Four Counts)
