SPD FIU Detectives Seize 31st Illegal Firearm on 35th Day of 2023

Springfield, Mass. — On Saturday February 4th at approximately 3:50 p.m. members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Lt. Christopher Collins seized two illegally possessed firearms and arrested 19-year-old Adam Naylor at a home on the 0-100 block of Ronald Drive.

On Saturday Detectives received information that Naylor, who has an open firearms case, was in possession of two firearms.  Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for his home.

During the execution of the search warrant Detectives recovered a large capacity firearm, a second firearm, more than 30 rounds of ammunition, more than $2100 in cash, more than 70 oxycodone pills and several bags of marijuana.  Detectives placed Naylor under arrest.

After this investigation, Detectives assigned to the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Captain Brian Keenan seized their 30th and 31st illegally possessed firearms on what was the 35th day of the year.

19-year-old Adam Naylor of Springfield is charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number during the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card
  • Possession of a Large Capacity firearm
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
  • Improper Storage of a Firearm
  • Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
