SPD FIU Detectives Seize Firearm, Trafficking Weight of Cocaine
Springfield, Mass. — On Thursday December 1st members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit under the direction of Captain Brian Keenan seized approximately 206 grams of cocaine, a loaded firearm, more than $6000 and arrested 54-year-old Jerry Frank on the 0-100 block of Harrison Avenue.
Detectives in the Firearms Investigation Unit have been conducting an illegal firearms and crack-cocaine investigation for the past several months with Frank as the suspect and applied and were granted a Springfield District Court Search Warrant for his apartment. On December 1st around 9:00 a.m. Detectives conducted a traffic stop of Frank’s car on Harrison Avenue and placed Frank under arrest for driving without a license. Detectives also recovered crack-cocaine from his pocket.
Detectives then executed the search warrant at his apartment on the 100 block of Oakland Street. During the search Detectives recovered $6041 in cash, approximately 206 grams of cocaine, a loaded firearm, additional firearm magazine and additional ammunition.
54-year-old Jerry Frank of Springfield is charged with:
- Firearm Violation with 3 Prior Violent/Drug Crimes
- Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Trafficking in Cocaine, 200 Grams or More
- Improper Storage of a Firearm
- Possession of Ammunition without a FID Card
- Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug
