SPD FIU Detectives Seize Ghost Gun, Marijuana and Cash after Weeks-Long Joint Investigation

Chicopee, Mass. — On Thursday September 22nd members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Lt. Christopher Collins and Sgt. Christopher Hitas, ATF and Chicopee Police seized a “Ghost Gun”, more than $11,000 in cash and approximately 25 lbs. of marijuana and arrested 32-year-old Francisco Perez of Chicopee.

For the past several weeks members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit and ATF have been investigation Perez for the illegal possession of a firearm and the illegal distribution of narcotics.  On Thursday September 22nd FIU Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for a home on Dickinson Street in Chicopee in connection with this investigation.

On Thursday around 3:45 p.m. Detectives conducted surveillance as Perez travelled through both Springfield and Chicopee.  Detectives conducted a traffic stop on Yelle Street in Chicopee and placed Perez under arrest.

At approximately 9:20 pm. Detectives executed a search warrant at the home on Dickinson Street.  Inside the home Detectives recovered a “Ghost Gun” and three magazines.  Also during the investigation Detectives seized approximately 25 pounds or marijuana and more than $11,000 in cash.  Perez has a prior conviction for possession of a firearm.

32-year-old Francisco Perez of Chicopee is charged with:

  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug

Additional firearms charges will be sought in Chicopee District Court due to the evidence located during the search warrant.
