SPD FIU Detectives Seize Large Capacity Firearm, Arrest Suspect Wanted in Connection to a Chicopee Shooting

Springfield, Mass — On Thursday December 1st at approximately 6:35 p.m. members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Lt. Christopher Collins seized a loaded large capacity firearm and arrested Troy Dubose who had an active warrant in connection to a shooting in Chicopee.

FIU Detectives were conducting an unrelated investigation Thursday night when they observed Dubose in a car in a parking lot on the 800 block of Hall of Fame Avenue.  Assisting Detectives arrived and placed Dubose under arrest for the warrant.  Detectives also located a firearm in his fanny pack which was loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition.  The firearm was reported stolen out of Springfield.

The Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit has now seized 131 illegally possessed firearms in 2022.

32-year-old Troy Dubose of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
  • Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • Firearm Violation with 3 Prior/Violent Gun Crimes
  • Possession of Ammunition without a FID Card
  • Receiving Stolen Property Less than $1200
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
  • Arrest Warrant (Chicopee District Court)
    – Firearm-armed Assault to Murder
    – Carrying a Dangerous Weapon
    – Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
    – Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
    – Wanton Destruction of Property +$1200
    – Possession of a Firearm without a FID Card
