SPD FIU Detectives Seize Loaded Firearm Saturday Night
Springfield, Mass. — On Saturday March 5th at approximately 8:20 p.m. members of the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Lt,. Brian Beliveau seized a loaded firearm and arrested 18 year old Maurice Crump inside his home on the 700 block of Carew Street.
FIU Detectives received information Crump was in possession of a firearm and applied for and were granted a search warrant for his apartment. Detectives detained Crump during the search and located the firearm on a TV stand inside his bedroom. Crump’s bedroom door was open giving anyone in the home access to the firearm. A 6 year old was playing in the next room.
18 year old Maurice Crump of Springfield is charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm without a FID Card – Subsequent Offense
- Possession of Ammunition without a FID Card
- Improper Storage of a Firearm
- Reckless Endangerment of a Child
