SPD FIU Detectives Seize Two Large Capacity Firearms, including a Ghost Gun

Springfield, Mass., — On Saturday January 15th at approximately 4:15 p.m. members of the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit under the direction of Sgt. Christopher Hitas seized two loaded large capacity firearms including a Ghost Gun capable of holding 32 rounds of ammunition.

After conducting an illegal firearms investigation, Detectives conducted a traffic stop of a suspect vehicle on Seymour Avenue.  Five occupants were initially detained.  During a search of the vehicle Detectives recovered a Ghost Gun loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition and capable of holding 32 rounds of ammunition.  Detectives also seized a second large capacity firearm loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.

Detectives arrested 21 year old Tyler Wilson and 22 year old Jonathan Rivera.  The other three occupants of the vehicle were released.

21 year old Tyler Wilson of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License

22 year old Jonathan Rivera of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
