SPD FIU Detectives Seized Loaded Firearm Thursday Afternoon
Springfield, Mass. — On Thursday May 5th at approximately 1:40 p.m. members of the Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Sgt. Christopher Hitas seized a loaded firearm and arrested 26-year-old Juan Sierra-Carrasquillo on the 0-100 block of Fullerton Street.
FIU Detectives observed Sierra-Carrasquillo on a motorcycle and were aware he had active arrest warrants. Once Sierra-Carrasquillo stopped, Detectives placed him under arrest. Detectives then located a loaded Glock firearm inside a Ferrari fanny pack he was wearing. The firearm was loaded with eight rounds of ammunition.
Sierra-Carrasquillo has a prior firearms conviction from 2015.
26-year-old Juan Sierra-Carrasquillo of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License – 2nd Offense
- Arrest Warrant
– Trafficking a Class A Drug
– Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug - Arrest Warrant
– Assault & Battery
– Strangulation or Suffication
– Breaking and Entering
– Destruction of Property
– Unarmed Robbery
– Larceny under $1200
