SPD Officers Arrest Two Connecticut Men after Firefighters Observe Suspects Attempt to Steal Car Parts 

Springfield, Mass. — At approximately 4:45 p.m. Thursday Springfield Police Officers arrested 32-year-old Stephen Baker and 33-year-old Timothy McDonald on Wilbraham Road after they were allegedly attempting to remove car parts.

Prior to the arrest Springfield Firefighters stationed on Eastern Avenue observed these two individuals underneath a vehicle believed to be attempting to steal a catalytic converter.  Once Firefighters came outside the suspects immediately left the area leaving their own vehicle behind.

Officers located the two suspects who were positively identified and placed under arrest.   Officers located a GPS tracking device, a cutting tool, screwdriver, knife, power drill and impact gun.

32-year-old Stephen Baker of Simsbury, CT is charged with:

  • Larceny Under $1200 (Attempted)
  • Attempt to Commit a Crime
  • Possession of Burglarious Tools
  • Malicious Damage of a Motor Vehicle (Attempted)

33-year-old Timothy McDonald of Simsbury CT is charged with:

  • Larceny Under $1200 (Attempted)
  • Attempt to Commit a Crime
  • Possession of Burglarious Tools
  • Malicious Damage of a Motor Vehicle (Attempted)
