SPD Officers Recover Loaded Firearm, Trafficking Weight of Cocaine
Springfield, Mass. — On Thursday November 18th at approximately 11:50 a.m. Springfield Police Officers arrested 32 year old Stephon Welfare and seized a loaded firearm and a trafficking weight of crack and powder cocaine.
Springfield Police Officers responded to the 0-100 block of Longhill Street around 10:35 a.m. Thursday for a disturbance involving a gun. Officers located the two individuals involved and identified one as Stephon Welfare who was getting out of a car as officers arrived. Welfare had two active arrest warrants and was placed under arrest. Officers also seized a bag of crack-cocaine from Welfare.
During a search of the car officers located a loaded firearm, a box of ammunition, additional crack and powder cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone and scales and packaging materials.
32 year old Stephon Welfare of Springfield is charged with:
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm without a License
- Cocaine Trafficking (36 – 100 grams)
- Possession of Ammunition without a License
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class E Drug
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
- Breaking and Entering Daytime
- Assault & Battery
- Arrest Warrant
- Arrest Warrant
