Springfield, Mass. — On Friday January 21st at approximately 3:05 a.m. a Springfield Police Sergeant conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Pine and Walnut Streets due to a lights violation. The driver, later identified as Laquan Caldwell, had a suspended license and was detained by assisting officers pending an investigation.
During a search of Caldwell officers discovered cash and several individual bags of crack-cocaine. Caldwell was placed under arrest. During a search of the car officers recovered additional drug packaging materials, a digital scale and additional crack-cocaine. The total weight of the crack-cocaine was approximately 31 grams.
