Springfield, Mass. — Today we remember Officer William Berte who was killed in the line of duty on January 8th, 1973.   Officer Berte began serving the city of Springfield on October 7th, 1969.  Officer Berte was 28 years old, serving with the Springfield Police Department for 3 years.
