SPD Reminds Drivers to Lock their Cars and Not to Leave Cars Running while Unattended

Springfield, Mass. — As the weather gets colder the Springfield Police Department would like to remind our community to lock their car doors and not to leave your car running while it is unattended or unoccupied.

The Springfield Police Department has seen an uptick in car break-ins across the city.  Please  protect your property by locking your car doors and do not leave anything valuable inside the car or visible in the car, even change.   We have made several arrests in car-breaks recently, most of which have been juveniles.

Also to help us prevent car thefts this winter, please do not leave your car running while unattended or unoccupied.  Whether its warming up your car in your driveway or a quick stop at the convenience store; it only takes seconds for a thief to steal a car.

Help us prevent car breaks and car thefts.  Thank you!
