Springfield Police Officers Arrest Carjacking Suspect

Springfield, Mass — On Monday August 8th at approximately 5:30 p.m. Springfield Police Officers arrested 31-year-old Roshane Brown on the 100 block of Memorial Drive.

Around 5:15 p.m. officers responded to Memorial Drive for a carjacking call.  A victim was leaving work when a person, later identified as Brown, stood in the street in front of the victims car preventing the victim from driving.  Brown then is alleged to have reached into the car and grabbed the steering wheel before going to the passenger side and breaking the door handle off the car.  Brown then implied he had a firearm.

As officers arrived Brown began resisting and grabbed at an officer’s taser.   Officers were then able to take Brown into custody.

31-year-old Roshane Brown of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carjacking
  • Attempt to Disarm a Police Officer
  • Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle
  • Assault & Battery on a Person Over 60 years old
  • Assault & Battery on a Police Officer (2 Counts)
  • Resisting Arrest
