Springfield Police Officers Seize Loaded Large Capacity Firearm and Arrest Two Suspects after Responding to a Gun Call
Springfield, Mass. — On Monday September 26th around 5:00 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Boston Road for a gun call inside the Eastfield Mall. A suspect, later identified as Chantz Dudley, was alleged to have flashed a firearm at a victim before leaving the premises. Crime Analysts in the Springfield Police Real-Time Analysis Center were able to locate the possible suspects getting into a car and relayed that information to responding officers.
Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the 1500 block of Boston Road. Dudley and his passenger Devonta Clarke exited the car and were detained. Officers located a large capacity firearm loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition on the passenger front seat. The firearm was equipped with a flashlight and laser. Officers also recovered 11 individually packaged bags of marijuana and more than $600 in cash.
Dudley and Clarke were placed under arrest.
18-year-old Chantz Dudley of Springfield is charged with:

- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Possession of a High Capacity Magazine/Feeding Device
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
24-year-old Devonta Clarke of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Possession of a High Capacity Magazine/Feeding Device
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
