Springfield Police Seize Loaded Firearm from Suspect Wearing an Ankle Bracelet for Open Gun Charges

Springfield, Mass. — At approximately 9:55 p.m. Tuesday members of the Springfield Police C-3 North End Unit under the direction of Lt. Julio Toledo along with Springfield Police Officers seized a loaded firearm and arrested 26-year-old Damion Hackett on the 2400 block of Main Street.

A few minutes earlier officers conducted a traffic stop due to a vehicle having excessive tint and not having an inspection sticker.  The driver, later identified as Hackett, was driving with a suspended license and was placed under arrest.  Inside the car officers recovered a loaded firearm.

At the time of this arrest Hackett was outfitted with a GPS ankle bracelet for pre-trial release for open charges including discharging a firearm possession of a sawed-off shotgun and possession of a firearm without a license.

26-year-old Damion Hackett of Easthampton is charged with:

  •  Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
  • Window Obstructed/Non-Transparent
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle with No Inspection Sticker
