Suspect with Two Open Firearm Cases Arrested with a Ghost Gun

Springfield, Mass. — On Sunday September 18th at approximately 4:40 p.m. Springfield Police Officers assisted by members of the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and Massachusetts State Police seized a loaded Ghost Gun and arrested 21-year-old Felix Martinez of Chicopee on the 0-100 block of State Street.

A short time prior to the arrest an individual, later identified as Martinez, was spotted dropping and picking up a firearm during a festival at Riverfront Park.  Martinez then jumped on a scooter and attempted to leave the area when he was stopped and detained.  A loaded firearm was recovered from Martinez’ waistline and he was placed under arrest.

Springfield Police Officers arrested Martinez twice in 2021 (March 3rd & October 6th) on firearms charges, those cases remain open in Hampden Superior Court.

21-year-old Felix Martinez of Chicopee is charged with:

  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Possession of Ammunition without a FID Card
