Swearing-in Ceremony for Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood 

Springfield, Mass. — Cheryl C. Clapprood was sworn in as the Springfield Police Superintendent by City Clerk Gladys Oyola Friday morning at City Hall.  Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Springfield Police Deputy Chief William Cochrane, City Solicitor Judge John Payne and former City Solicitor Edward Pikula were on hand for the brief ceremony.

On Thursday the Springfield Board of Police Commissioners were sworn in. On March 1, 2022, Mayor Domenic J. Sarno appointed five city residents to the Board. Those appointed were Dr. Gary Berte, Professor of Criminal Justice at Springfield College; Madeline Fernandez, Director of the re-entry program for the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department; Robert C. Jackson, business owner and community advocate; Norman Roldan, former School Committee member and community activist; and Albert Tranghese, retired Human Resources manager and former Labor Union representative. Also in attendance on Thursday for the swearing in were City Solicitor Judge John Payne and Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood.
