Undercover “Anti-John” Operation Leads to Nine Arrests

Springfield, Mass. —  On Thursday afternoon September 15th members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit and Springfield Police Officers under the direction of Captain Brian Keenan, Massachusetts State Police High Risk Victim Unit under the direction of Detective Lieutenant Brian Galvin, Massachusetts State Police Hampden County Detective Unit and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department conducted an “Anti-John” undercover prostitution operation that led to the arrests of nine men in a roughly four-hour span.

The operation was in response to neighborhood complaints and quality of life issues stemming from the High Street area and the South End neighborhood of the city.  This “Anti-John” detail is to deter the solicitation of prostitution and related drug activity connected to it.

In the past two months these agencies have partnered in similar operations that has led to the arrest of 25 “John’s” soliciting prostitution.

These suspects below were arrested on Thursday September 15th:

36-year-old Abinel Zayas-Zenon of Springfield is charged with:

29-year-old Luis Sanchez of Holyoke is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

57-year-old Luis Quispe of Everett is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

57-year-old David McDonald of Hesperia, California is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

42-year-old Nik Hakmal of Springfield is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

77-year-old John Geer of Monson is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

36-year-old Melvin Olivo of Westfield is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

32-year-old Andrew Campbell of Springfield is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct

52-year-old Kenneth Mandy of Ellington, Connecticut is charged with:

  • Pay for Sexual Conduct
