Springfield Police Department to Take Part in 59th Annual Youth Fishing Derby with “Cops and Bobbers, Hooks and Ladders” Program

Springfield, Mass. — Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence E. Akers is pleased to announce that officers from the Springfield Police Department will once again participate in the 59th Annual Cote-Sullivan Youth Fishing Derby this weekend.

WHEN:
Saturday, April 27th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

WHERE:
Forest Park, Barney Pond, Springfield, MA

WHAT:
The Youth Fishing Derby with the Cops & Bobbers, Hooks & Ladders Program is a free fishing program for kids up to age 12.

Kids will learn the basics of fishing from volunteers and will be able to fish alongside Springfield’s first responders.

Fishing equipment will be provided, as needed. Kids will fish in a stocked pond and trophies will be awarded for catching a tagged trout. Prizes and raffles will also be announced throughout the day.
