For the 2nd Straight Year Springfield Police K-9 Officer Blair & K-9 Flexx Qualify for USPCA National Trials

Ludlow, Mass. — On behalf of the Springfield Police Department, Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood would like to recognize K-9 officer Eric Blair and his K-9 partner Flexx for once again qualifying for the United States Police Canine Assocation (USPCA) national trials.

Officer Blair and K-9 Flexx competed on June 3rd and 4th at the Ludlow Boys and Girls Club for the USPCA Region 4 PD-1 Field Trials.   This K-9 team won first place in the article search and 3rd place in the box search.  They competed against 30 other K-9 teams in the open division for veteran K-9 handlers.  Teams came from Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire.  K-9 teams participated in judged obedience, agility, box search and apprehension activities.

With their scores, they qualified for the USPCA national trials in Foley, Alabama in September.  Officer Blair and K-9 Flexx qualified for and competed in the national trials in Georgia in 2022.

Officer Blair has been with the Springfield Police Department since 2011 and part of the K-9 Unit since 2014.  K-9 Flexx, a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois, joined the department in December 2021.

Another Springfield Police K-9 team, Officer Jacob Boudreau and K-9 Taz competed and finished in 3rd place in protection work in the novice division.
