Gun Call Leads to Two Arrests, Large-Capacity Firearm Seized

Springfield, Mass. — On Sunday August 4th at approximately 9:50 p.m., Springfield Police Officers seized a loaded large capacity firearm and arrested two suspects on the 200 block of Fernbank Road.

Around 9:40 p.m., officers responded to Fernbank Road for a gun call.  Officers received information an individual was running around the parking lot holding a handgun and then there was a “pop”.

Officers arrived and detained two suspects, later identified as Yadriel Camacho and Alexmy Rodriguez.   Inside their vehicle in plain sight was a loaded firearm capable of holding 16 rounds of ammunition.  Officers also seized more than 90 bags of marijuana inside the car.  Camacho and Rodriguez were placed under arrest.

18-year-old Yadriel Camacho of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
  • Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine/Feeding Device
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug

19-year-old Alexmy Rodriguez of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
  • Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine/Feeding Device
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
