Officers arrest Breaking and Entering Suspect Twice in Three Days

Springfield, Mass. — On Sunday around 9:05 p.m. Springfield Police Officers responded to the 1300 block of Main Street for a breaking and entering at the 413 Cafe.  Members of the Springfield Police Real-Time Analysis Center (R-TAC) were able to relay information about an individual matching the description of the suspect in the Court Square area.  K9 Officer Ruyffelaert and his K9 partner Walker were able to track the suspect which led them to a backpack by juvenile court.  Officers working with the Gaming Enforcement Unit were then able to locate the suspect, later identified as William Harris, at the casino and placed him under arrest.

58-year-old William Harris of Springfield is charged with:

  • Breaking & Entering a Building Nighttime for a Felony
  • Deface Property
  • Larceny from a Building
  • Break into a Depository

After being arraigned in Springfield District Court, Harris was released.  On Tuesday January 10th at approximately 12:25 a.m. Officers arrested Harris again on three counts of Breaking and Entering of a Vehicle at Nighttime.

Officers responded to the 500 block of Main Street for a report of a suspect breaking into vehicles.  Witnesses were chasing the suspect, later identified as Harris, but lost sight of him.  Officers then located Harris on the 0-100 block of Central Street.  He was placed under arrest.  He is expected to be arraigned again in Springfield District Court Tuesday afternoon.
