Photos: Dozens of Springfield Police Officers Volunteer at the Rays of Hope Walk & Run
Springfield, Mass. — Springfield Police Superintendent Cheryl Clapprood joined dozens of Springfield Police Supervisors and Officers in the fight against cancer on Sunday October 22nd.
Officers and Supervisors volunteered at the 30th Annual Walk & Run toward the cure of breast cancer. The event kicked off at Temple Beth El on Dickinson Street in Springfield.
Since its inception in 1994, Rays of Hope has been helping individuals in the fight against breast cancer by walking alongside them on their cancer journey. Through the Baystate Health Breast Network, Rays of Hope cares for the whole person from diagnosis and beyond by supporting research at the Rays of Hope Center for Breast Cancer Research, providing funding for state-of-the-art equipment, breast health programs and outreach and education throughout Baystate Health as well as providing grants for complementary therapies and cancer programs to our community partners throughout western Massachusetts. Rays of Hope has raised nearly $17 million to date. All funds raised remain local in western Massachusetts.
