The City of Springfield, in collaboration with the DOJ Settlement Agreement, has issued new policies in accordance with standards set forth by Massachusetts General Law, the Municipal Police Training Council, Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, and the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Commission.
The following five policies were finalized and published on February 1, 2023:
- Use of Force Policy
- Use of Force Reporting Policy
- Use of Force Review and Investigation Policy
- Foot Pursuit Policy
- Vehicle Pursuit Policy
