ShotSpotter Activation Leads Officers to Loaded Firearm
Springfield, Mass. — On Thursday June 6th at approximately 4:50 a.m., Springfield Police Officers seized a loaded firearm and arrested two suspects in connection with a shooting.
Around 4:00 a.m., officers responded to the 0-100 block of Edmund Wayne Circle for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers arrived and observed one male, later identified as Elieser Rodriguez, standing between two cars. When Elieser Rodriguez saw police presence, he opened a car’s back door and appeared to place something inside or hand someone off to the rear seat passenger, later identified as Damian Rodriguez.
Inside the vehicle, officers located a loaded firearm on the floorboard in front of Damian Rodriguez. Both Damian and Elieser Rodriguez were placed under arrest.
19-year-old Damian Rodriguez of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
21-year-old Elieser Rodriguez of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
