SPD Detective Bureau Investigation Leads to an Arrest of a Shooting Suspect

Springfield, Mass. — At approximately 10:30 a.m. officers responded to the 100 block of Boston Rd. for a report of a gunshot victim. Officers located an adult male gunshot victim who was transported to Baystate with serious injuries.

The Springfield Police Detective Bureau under the direction of Captain Trent Duda began investigating and were able to identify a shooting suspect. That information was relayed to the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU).

Around 12:00 p.m., members of the FIU, MSP VFAS, U.S. Marshal’s Task Force and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department located the suspect, 35-year-old Tory Bryant, on the 0-100 block of Oak Grove Avenue and he was placed under arrest.

Bryant’s booking photo is not immediately available.

35-year-old Tory Bryant of Springfield is charged with:

  • Assault to Murder
  • Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
