SPD FIU Detectives Arrest Wanted Suspect in Connection with Thursday Night Incident where Detectives were Shot At
Springfield, Mass. — Around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) under the direction of Sgt. David Robillard arrested 20-year-old Damian Scott on the 200 block of Carew Street.
On Saturday January 25th, around 9:45 a.m., a Springfield Police Officer working an extra detail at Mercy, recognized a suspect wanted for numerous outstanding arrest warrants. The suspect, Damian Scott, was also under investigation by the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit for his alleged role in Thursday’s incident that led to a more than two-hour search in the North Branch Parkway area.
Scott is a suspect is numerous car thefts in the city and at the time had four outstanding warrants in connection with auto-thefts in addition to a warrant for cocaine trafficking.
On Saturday, FIU Detectives also charged him with being the driver of the car that crashed on Grayson Drive and Fox Road on Thursday night after Detectives were shot at on Fernald Street.
Detectives have asked the District Attorney’s office to request a dangerousness hearing for Scott, who in addition to these active warrants and his alleged involvement in Thursday’s incident, has a long history of evading police during attempts to apprehend him.

– Violation of an Abuse Prevention Order - Default Warrant
– Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law
– Trafficking Cocaine 100-200 Grams - Default Warrant
– Failure to Stop for Police
– Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
– Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
