SPD FIU Detectives Seize Firearm & Drugs After Investigation on Fernwold & Baldwin Streets

Springfield, Mass. — On Tuesday July 9th members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), Springfield Police K-9 Unit and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department arrested three suspects and seized a loaded firearm, heroin, cocaine and Xanax.

FIU Detectives received information about open air drug dealing in the area of Fernwold and Baldwin Streets and have been investigating for the past two months.  On Tuesday Detectives observed a suspected drug deal around 12:15 p.m. and again around 3:15 p.m.

Around 4:50 p.m. the three suspects were all in an SUV and Detectives moved in.  Detectives arrested 21-year-old Doughlas Moss who was in the front passenger seat.  Detectives recovered 33 bags of heroin, crack-cocaine and $1906 from Moss.

Detectives arrested 20-year-old Khalil Laboy who was in the back seat.  Detectives located a loaded firearm tied to his waistband and recovered two bags of cocaine and 15 bags of heroin in the area he was sitting along with $108.  Springfield Police K9 Flexx did a preliminary search of the vehicle and alerted Detectives to the presence of narcotics.

Detectives also arrested 30-year-old Luis Alicea-Rivera who was in the driver’s seat.  Detectives recovered heroin and Xanax pills from the area he was sitting along with more than $2300 in cash.

21-year-old Doughlas Moss of Springfield is charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Three Counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug (Heroin)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Cocaine)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Crack-Cocaine)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class E Drug (Xanax)

20-year-old Khalil Laboy of Springfield is charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Three Counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug (Heroin)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Cocaine)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Crack-Cocaine)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class E Drug (Xanax)

30-year-old Luis Alicea-Rivera of Springfield is charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Three Counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug (Heroin)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Cocaine)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Crack-Cocaine)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class E Drug (Xanax)
