SPD Issues Another Reminder to Lock Your Car Doors after B&E Suspect Arrested

Springfield, Mass. — On Monday May 13th at approximately 4:00 a.m., Springfield Police Officers arrested 26-year-old Demetrius Hill on the 0-100 block of Chestnut Street in connection with nearly a dozen attempted car-breaks.

Around 3:20 a.m. officers responded to that same area after receiving information that a suspect, later identified as Hill, was pulling on door handles and attempting to break into cars on Chestnut Street and Edwards Street.

Officers located (Hill) who matched the description of the suspect, and he was detained pending an investigation.  Hill was positively identified and placed under arrest.

Due to all the vehicles being locked, the suspect was not able to enter any cars.
