SPD Officers Seize Firearm, Knives, Brass Knuckles, Heroin and Crack-Cocaine 

Springfield, Mass. — At approximately 3:05 p.m. Sunday November 13th Springfield Police Officers seized a loaded firearm, heroin, crack-cocaine, three knives and brass knuckles while arresting 30-year-old Emily Sanchez and 39-year-old Luis Luna at the intersection of Oak Grove Avenue and State Street.

Around 11:00 a.m. officers responded to a gun call on Mapledell Street.  A victim alleged Sanchez pointed at her.  Officers canvassed the area and located the suspect vehicle.  When assisting officers arrived officers conducted a traffic stop at Oak Grove Avenue and State Street.  Both Sanchez and her passenger Luna ignored officers commands and were ordered out of the car.  Officers located brass knuckles and two knives on Sanchez and she was placed under arrest.

During the investigation officers located ammunition on the driver’s side floorboard and a loaded firearm in the arm rest.  An additional knife was located inside the car.  Officers recovered 64 bags of heroin and crack-cocaine.

30-year-old Emily Sanchez of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Carrying a Dangerous Weapon – 2 Counts
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
  • Possession of a Class B Drug

39-year-old Luis Luna of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
