SPD Officers Seize Illegal Firearm After Shots Fired Incident
Springfield, Mass. — On Saturday July 6th at approximately 11:10 a.m., Springfield Police Officers seized an illegal firearm and arrested 28-year-old Christian Ayala-Pellot on the 300 block of Orange Street in connection with a shooting.
A few minutes earlier, Springfield Police Officers heard gunshots in the area of Allen Street and Alberta Street. Officers then received a description of the suspect, later identified as Ayala-Pellot. Witnesses stated Ayala-Pellot fired a gun and was on a scooter.
Officers then located Ayala-Pellot on a scooter in a parking lot on the 300 block of Orange Street. When Ayala-Pellot saw a police presence he attempted to speed away by running a red light when he struck a vehicle legally proceeding through the intersection. After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to take Ayala-Pellot into custody in the back yard of a home on the 300 block of Orange Street.
Officers searched his fanny pack and recovered a loaded firearm and four bags of heroin. Officers placed him under arrest.
It was discovered during the booking process that Ayala-Pellot had initially given officers a false name and that he has an extraditable warrant out of Pennsylvania.
28-year-old Christian Ayala-Pellot of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
- Disorderly Conduct
- Malicious Destruction of Property Less than $1200
- Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident
- Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Class a Drug
- Arrestee Furnish a False Name
- Motor Vehicle Operator Refuse to Identify Self
- Fugitive from Justice on a Court Warrant
