SPD Officers Seize Illegal Firearm After Shots Fired Incident

Springfield, Mass. — On Saturday July 6th at approximately 11:10 a.m., Springfield Police Officers seized an illegal firearm and arrested 28-year-old Christian Ayala-Pellot on the 300 block of Orange Street in connection with a shooting.

A few minutes earlier, Springfield Police Officers heard gunshots in the area of Allen Street and Alberta Street.  Officers then received a description of the suspect, later identified as Ayala-Pellot.  Witnesses stated Ayala-Pellot fired a gun and was on a scooter.

Officers then located Ayala-Pellot on a scooter in a parking lot on the 300 block of Orange Street.  When Ayala-Pellot saw a police presence he attempted to speed away by running a red light when he struck a vehicle legally proceeding through the intersection.  After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to take Ayala-Pellot into custody in the back yard of a home on the 300 block of Orange Street.

Officers searched his fanny pack and recovered a loaded firearm and four bags of heroin.  Officers placed him under arrest.
