SPD Officers Seize Loaded Firearm after Responding to a Disturbance

Springfield, Mass. — On Thursday January 16th at approximately 1:55 a.m., Springfield Police Officers seized a loaded large capacity firearm and arrested 21-year-old Jeyver Pabon-Flores.

A few minutes earlier, officers responded to a disturbance outside a bar on the 400 block of Belmont Avenue.  Officers discovered that a two-vehicle crash was suspected to be at the root of this disturbance.  As officers approached the disturbance, they saw the driver, later identified as Pabon-Flores, of one of the vehicles involved in the crash attempting to leave the scene.  When officers asked him to put his car into park, he exited the vehicle and ran onto Burlington Street.  Officers saw Pabon-Flores fleeing while holding a firearm.

After a foot pursuit, Pabon-Flores was taken into custody on the 300 block of Dickinson Street and officers were able to disarm the subject.  The firearm was loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition and was reported stolen out of Vermont.

21-year-old Jeyver Pabon-Flores of Chicopee is charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
  • Receiving Stolen Property Less than $1200
  • Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Number Plate Violation to Conceal ID
  • Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  • Uninsured Motor Vehicle
