SPD Officers Seize Two Firearms, Including AR-15 after ShotSpotter Activation
Springfield, Mass. — On Wednesday January 1st at approximately 2:50 a.m., Springfield Police Officers seized an AR-15 rifle, an additional firearm and arrested 23-year-old Everton Daley on the 100 block of Westford Circle.
Around 2:30 a.m., officers responded to ShotSpotter activations on Marlborough Street, Westford Circle, Albermarle Street and Norfolk Street within one minute of each other. When officers arrived on Marlborough Street a vehicle was seen driving away from the potential scene. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle did not come to a stop. Eventually the car stopped on Westford Circle. The passenger ran from the car through the backyard of a home and evaded police at this time. The driver exited the car and began walking away. Officers secured the driver, later identified as Daley and placed him under arrest.
When officers looked into the car, they could see an AR-15 rifle and a 30-round magazine, which was next to, but not inserted into the rifle. Inside the center console, officers located a handgun and a magazine under the driver’s seat. Officers also located ammunition and spent shell casings inside the car.
23-year-old Everton Daley of Springfield is charged with:
- Carrying a Firearm without a License (Two Counts)
- Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm (Two Counts)
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
- Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine/Feeding Device
- Carrying an Unloaded Rifle/Shotgun on a Public Way
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
- Failure to Stop for Police
- Resisting Arrest
